He was drafted out of college and served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Rifleman/Replacement in the 6thInfantry Division in the Liberation of the Philippines and the Post-War American/Russian Occupation of Korea. He was awarded seven medals including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.He was a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans, Hillsdale 68, where he served two years as commander. He was also a Life member of The Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman’s Association.More recently, he served in the Honor Guard of the Leighr Wright Post 53, American Legion, marching in parades and serving in the Patriotic Ceremony at Veteran’s funerals.
